SAVE DOMINO
June 2013
Save Domino embodied how a community can defend itself when provoked. Domino was a symbol of New York City’s cultural diversity as Williamsburg, Brooklyn grew into the most desirable neighborhood in the country.
Save Domino stood tall in the face of a multibillion-dollar developer who demolished the refinery for a luxury development. Once again, bureaucracy engulfed enlightened public policy.
Our efforts were varied; from making a papier-mâché carrot, playing “stump the developer”, ground level petitioning, hosting Town Hall meetings with ADAO, to producing benefit parties with comedians and DJ Stretch Armstrong. Our guerrilla street campaign was impossible to miss transforming an iconic refinery into an iconic image.
